Diocese of Achonry

There are twenty-three parishes in the diocese.  One of these is in Co. Roscommon with eleven each in counties Sligo and Mayo.  A parish is sometimes described as a "family of families" which is a good way to think of a parish.  It is, of course, a canonical structure and a geographical reality but the more "people centred" a parish is, the better.  So that idea of a "family of families" has definite merit.
